Welcome to Alfredo ("Alfredo," "we," "us," "our"). We provide an AI-powered shopping assistant that integrates with Shopify stores to facilitate sales conversations on WhatsApp ("Service").
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you, as a Shopify Merchant ("Merchant"), use our Service, or when you, as an end-customer ("End-Customer"), interact with an Alfredo-powered assistant via WhatsApp on behalf of a Merchant.
By using our Service (Merchants) or interacting with an Alfredo assistant (End-Customers), you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Please also review the privacy policies of the specific Merchant you are interacting with, as well as WhatsApp (Meta) and Shopify, as they govern your interactions on those platforms.
2. Information We Collect
We collect different types of information depending on your interaction with Alfredo:
(a) Information Collected from Merchants:
- Account and Contact Information: When you sign up for Early Access or connect your store, we collect information such as your Full Name, Work Email Address, Company Name, and Shopify Store URL.
- Shopify Store Information: To provide the Service, we securely connect to your Shopify store. This involves accessing your product catalog data (product details, descriptions, pricing, inventory levels – as needed for search and display). We do not process payments directly; checkout occurs on Shopify.
- Configuration Data: Information you provide to customize Alfredo, such as preferred tone, personality traits, and greeting messages.
- Usage Data: Information about how you use the Alfredo dashboard and service, including login times, features used, and performance metrics viewed through the analytics dashboard.
- Communications: Records of communications between you and Alfredo support or onboarding teams.
- Interest Information: Information you provide about why you are interested in early access or the Service, used to understand needs and prioritize features.
(b) Information Processed from End-Customers (on behalf of Merchants):
WhatsApp Interaction Data: When you interact with an Alfredo assistant via WhatsApp:
- WhatsApp Identifier: Your WhatsApp phone number is inherently processed as part of the communication on the platform.
- Conversation Content: Messages you send, including questions about products, descriptions of your needs, product selections, and general conversation text. This is processed by our AI to understand intent, search the Merchant's catalog, provide recommendations, and guide the shopping journey.
- Cart Information: Products you add to your cart within the WhatsApp chat interface before being directed to the Shopify checkout.
- Interaction Metadata: Timestamps and context of the conversation flow.
Note: Alfredo facilitates the addition of items to a cart within WhatsApp and provides a link to the Merchant's Shopify checkout page. Alfredo does not collect or process payment information. All payment transactions are handled securely by Shopify.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
(a) For Merchants:
- To Provide and Manage the Service: Connect your Shopify store, sync your product catalog, enable the AI assistant on WhatsApp, provide the analytics dashboard, and manage your account.
- To Customize the Experience: Apply your specified brand voice, tone, and greetings to the AI assistant.
- To Communicate With You: Send onboarding information, provide support, notify you of updates, and respond to inquiries.
- To Improve Our Service: Analyze usage patterns, gather feedback (including early access interest reasons), and develop new features. Understand performance metrics to help you optimize your strategy.
- For Security and Compliance: Protect against fraud, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations.
(b) For End-Customers (as a Data Processor for the Merchant):
- To Facilitate Conversational Commerce: Understand your natural language requests and intent via AI, search the relevant Merchant's Shopify catalog, provide product information and AI-personalized recommendations based on the conversation context.
- To Guide the Shopping Journey: Lead you through a conversational flow from discovery to cart building within WhatsApp.
- To Manage Your Cart: Allow you to add/view products in your cart within the WhatsApp chat.
- To Enable Checkout: Provide a direct link to the Merchant's pre-filled Shopify checkout page.
- To Provide Support (via AI): Answer questions about products, shipping, or policies instantly within the chat on behalf of the Merchant.
- To Improve the AI: Analyze anonymized and aggregated conversation data to enhance the AI's understanding, relevance, and helpfulness (this data does not identify individual End-Customers).
- To Generate Analytics for Merchants: Provide Merchants with aggregated and anonymized insights into conversation performance, conversion rates, AOV, etc., related to their customers' interactions.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information under the following circumstances:
- With the Merchant: End-Customer interaction data (conversations, cart activity, outcomes) is processed on behalf of and made accessible to the specific Merchant whose store the End-Customer is interacting with, primarily through their analytics dashboard.
- With Service Providers: We may share information with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, AI processing infrastructure, data analytics, and customer support tools. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.
- With Shopify: To sync product catalogs and potentially to pass cart information to pre-fill the checkout page.
- With WhatsApp (Meta): Data transmission necessarily occurs via the WhatsApp platform, subject to their terms and policies.
- For Legal Reasons: If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Alfredo, our Merchants, End-Customers, or others.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality agreements.
5. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the security of the information we process. This includes measures like secure connections (e.g., for Shopify linking), access controls, and data encryption where appropriate. However, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data transmitted via the internet or stored on our systems.
6. Data Retention
We retain Merchant information for as long as the Merchant account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
We retain End-Customer conversation data processed on behalf of a Merchant for a period necessary to provide the Service, support the Merchant's analytics, improve the AI (in anonymized/aggregated form), and comply with legal obligations or Merchant instructions. Specific retention periods may vary based on Merchant configurations and legal requirements. Data is deleted or anonymized when no longer needed for these purposes.
7. Your Data Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
Merchants: You may access, update, or request deletion of your account information by contacting us. You can manage your connection and customization settings through the Service interface.
End-Customers: Your interactions are primarily with a specific Merchant via Alfredo. If you wish to exercise data rights (such as access, correction, deletion) regarding the conversations held via the Alfredo assistant, you should typically direct your request to the Merchant you interacted with, as they are the Data Controller for your interaction data in most contexts. We will assist Merchants in responding to such requests as required by law and our agreements with them. You also have rights related to your data directly with WhatsApp (Meta).

8. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 16 (or a higher age threshold if required by applicable law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your own, where our servers or service providers are located. Data protection laws in these countries may differ from those in your jurisdiction. We will take appropriate safeguards to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
